چکیده

Universität Hamburg, Institut für Organische Chemie, Martin-Luther-King-Platz 6, D-2000 Hamburg 13, Bundesrepublik Deutschland Z. Naturforsch. 43c, 24-28 (1988); received August 18/October 30, 1987 Dedicated to Professor Ewald Sprecher on the occasion of his 65th birthday Lentinus lepideus, Lentideusether, Terrestrol, Fungal Sesquiterpenes, Fungal Fragrance Compounds The brown-rot fungus Lentinus lepideus (Fr.: Fr.) Fr. FPRL 7B (Basidiomycotina) was cultivated on a defined synthetic liquid medium containing glucose (2%), isoleucine (0.15%), and mineral salts for 105 days. The steam distillate was separated by column chromatography. Three novel sesquiterpene ethers with muurolane skeleton (lentideusether, isolentideusether, and 10-hydroxylentideusether) were isolated and their structures elucidated by spectroscopic methods, in particular by 'H NMR spectra and by two-dimensional 'H/'Hand C/'H-chemical shift correlation. These compounds are described for the first time as natural products. As a further metabolite, the acyclic sesquiterpene alcohol terrestrol was identified.

Biochemistry of the Wood-rotting Fungi

In an examination ofthe volatile metabolic products of the odoriferous fungus Lentinuoa lepideu Fr., Birkinshaw & Findlay (1940) identified the methyl esters of p-methoxycinnamic, and cinnamic acids. Another acid, anisic acid, was also present as an ester but the nature of the alcohol moiety was left undetermined, although it was considered that the ester was probably the methyl ester. Another ...

Influence of Carbon Source on Cellulase Activity of White-rot and Brown-rot Fungi

Three white-rot fungi, Polyporus versicolor, Ganoderma applanatum, and Peniopbora “G,” produce an adaptive cellulase complex that can degrade both soluble cellulose (Cx) and microcrystalline cellulose (C1), a highly ordered form of cellulose. Production of Cx and C1 by the white-rot fungi was repressed by simple sugars. Cellualase preparations from three brown-rot fungi, Poria monticola, Lentin...

Appraisal of Antihyperlipidemic Activities of Lentinus lepideus in Hypercholesterolemic Rats

The wild edible mushroom, Lentinus lepideus has recently been cultivated for commercial use in Korea. While the mushroom has been widely used for nutritional and medicinal purposes, the possible anti-hyperlipidemic action is unclear. The effects of dietary L. lepideus on plasma and feces biochemical and on the liver histological status were investigated in hypercholesterolemic rats. Six-wk-old ...

Antioxidant and antityrosinase activities of various extracts from the fruiting bodies of Lentinus lepideus.

Lentinus lepideus is an edible mushroom currently available in Korea. The acetone, methanol and hot water extracts were prepared and assayed for their antioxidant and antityrosinase inhibitory activities. The hot water extract showed the strongest β-carotene-linoleic acid inhibition compared to the other extracts. At 8 mg/mL, the methanolic extract showed a high reducing power of 1.21. The acet...

The Biological Degradation of Lignin ' IV

Studies made in the field of microbiological degradation of lignin have included investigations with sodium and calcium lignosulfonates. Kazanskii and Mikhailova (1936) were unable to grow several wood-rotting fungi on neutralized waste sulfite liquor, but found that infusorial earth mixed cultures could grow albeit slowly (in 50-60 days) if several alterations were made in the composition of t...
